STOP ENABLING THE ADDICTS

We are being conned by our flim flam artist aka AD whose little sting operation continually chokes the oxygen out of the men’s basketball program.

Don’t know who sgwau96 is at the Spartan Insider Basketball MB but he offered quite the telling post recently:

Keeping Nessman makes Bowen’s job all the harder.

For Basketball finances

San Jose State Basketball
2010-11 revenues $ 948,465 // almost half is WAC NCAA money
2010-11 expenses $1,123,472

Cal State- Fresno Basketball
2010-11 revenues $2,361,631
2010-11 expenses $1,768,355

Utah State Basketball
2010-11 revenues $4,769,907
2010-11 expenses $5,269,615

businessofcollegesports.com/20…11/mwc-10-11-4/

San Diego State Basketball
2010-11 revenues $4,721,603
2010-11 expenses $3,638,038

I will keep looking for Big West data. I suspect we are far behind UCSB and LBS.

San Jose State budget is skewed heavily toward football compared to comparable schools. Most mid-majors spent 12-15% on Basketball, but SJSU spends about 6-7%. Our MBB is heavily dependent upon NCAA transfer money from the WAC and subsidies from Football. Our Revenue is about 25% of what it should be for comparable programs.

If we were to join the Alliance somehow in all sports (something I think is a non-starter to anyone doing due diligence on SJSU and examining the books) our MBB program would find itself completely outgunned.

Anybody doing any serious examination would see the program is starved. Our OOC schedule is a complete joke, mostly 200+ RPI schools.

Complete and utter neglect, to an almost criminal level. There is no way they program can succeed with this approach. That is why Bowen doesn’t want to get a real coach. A real coach would insist upon real support and real budgets.

=========================

FIRE TOM BOWEN NOW for benign neglect to the student-athletes on the men’s basketball team.

FIRE TOM BOWEN YESTERDAY for benign neglect to the student athletes on the men’s basketball team.

Do it FOR THE PLAYERS.

It’s ABOUT THE PLAYERS.

Stop enabling the addicts.
